This resource relates to St. Patrick’s Day (17 March). It is versatile in that you can save as a different name and then adapt to suit the timing of your assembly. It can also be used as a lesson resource where you can focus on a particular topic such as St Patrick’s life from when he was born, taken as a slave and the becoming the patron saint of Ireland. Content: A Presentation (69 Slides) on facts about St. Patrick and how the day is celebrated. The presentation starts with a welcome to the whole school. It then shows a stain glass window of St Patrick holding a shamrock. There are questions and answers throughout the presentation to involve the children. It is divided into sections:- Background to St. Patrick’s life Around the World Myths and legends Celebrations Reflection -A prayer (optional) (3 pages)- Teacher’s notes on assembly referring to each slide. The Presentation begins with a starter activity - the Lead up to St Valentines - stores displaying Valentine related items. It then leads into the story of St Valentine, his run-in with Claudius II, curing the jailers blind daughter and symbols relating to the celebration. Reflection - Children learn that Valentine's Day isn't just about romance but has other meanings, e.g. Love is patience, kindness etc. Consolidation Worksheet 1 - children write in a few sentences what love is... This resource is a 1 hour lesson on The Good Samaritan parable. Aimed at: Keystage 1/Lower KS2. Content: - PowerPoint Presentation (23 Slides) - Contains the parable and whole class activities and Plenary. Children and listen and interact with the story - listening and speaking. Recap comprehension questions at the end of the parable in preparation for children to do independent work. - Lesson Plan (3 pages) with Learning Objectives and success criteria. This resource is on the topic of Saint George and The Dragon legend. A great introduction to myths and legends. Aimed at: KS1/2 The legend of St. George the dragon-slayer is on PowerPoint. The Presentation includes whole class activities and comprehension questions. Children are encouraged to participate in discussion about the story and check their understanding. The second PowerPoint Presentation explains what mythical stories are and why they were told (6 Slides). The third PowerPoint Presentation is on different dragons for whole class activity and to prepare children for their worksheet activity. The resource also contains:- Flexible detailed lesson plans covering 3 lessons (includes learning objectives and plenaries). Each PowerPoint slide is referred to in the lesson plans. Lesson 1: Children are presented with the legend of St. George and then there are 7 comprehension questions. The Myths Presentation is also referred to set the story in context. This is resource is on the topic of Sikhism. It is an introductory booklet that aims to cover the key features of the Sikh religion including the the K’s. Ideal resource for revision/assessment. It contains a contents page, glossary of terms and texts with sub-headings and questions. This reading comprehension bundle includes 4 lovely fiction stories. The vocabulary is age-appropriate and children are encouraged to work out the meaning of words in the context of the story. The subject matters are familiar to the children and so there are cross-curricular themes. The booklets cater for all level of readers - The Chase being the easiest. Booklets 2 are divided into sections. So each paragraph is followed by questions. Some of the questions require the reader to 'read between the lines'. Not only is a child's comprehension assessed but other English key skills are incorporated. The resource can be given to more able pupils to work on independently. The booklets can also be used in guided reading sessions. The questions are extensive so the children can answer a set of questions in one session and do another set of questions in another session.

It is for whole school assembly.</strong> It contains: PowerPoint Presentation Teacher’s Guide on how to conduct the assembly Playscript of the Parable Posters for display Cross-curricular to Religious Studies and Citizenship. The theme is ‘forgiveness’ based on The Parable of the Lost Son. Learning Objective: To understand what forgiveness means. Children are asked why we should say ‘sorry’ and understand the meaning of forgiveness and understanding. The children are asked about their own experience of getting hurt and wanting that person to say sorry and what it feels like if they don’t apologize. They are taken through the story and asked questions along the way. I’ve written a playscript based on the story. You may wish to have a group of children act out the story instead of reading it on the slides. There are questions on the slides for children to think about.
